This was the scene in Faro, Yukon in April of 2013. The young man I’m playing with on stage (Elijah Bekk) is performing his first every concert.
At this point, hadn’t written a song yet.
Flash forward 12 years, and Elijah is performing his own songs to thousands of people in Mexico.
We reconnected for the first time on the podcast today, and got into what it takes for a song to be keepable, how to hold on to hope through difficulty, and how inspiring demonstrations of love can be.
To listen to his jaw dropping journey, and the 200th episode of the Write Songs You Love podcast:
Elijah left us with a fun prompt today:
*Write a song that personifies an object
I’ve heard a number of songs that do this over the years, and it’s always a treat to find out what the song is actually about.
Perhaps you’ll give it a try.
Perhaps you’ll deem it keepable.
Perhaps it’ll become a song you love ❤️.
